In the modern world, economic growth and the spread of democracy have raised the value of education and increased the importance of ensuring that all children and adults have access to high quality and effective teaching. Modern education reforms are increasingly driven by a growing understanding of what works in education and how to go about successfully improving teaching and learning in schools.
Adam Smith International has been closely involved in developing and supporting the reforms of education systems in a wide range of transitional and developing countries in South Asia, the Middle East and across Africa.
Our work has included the provision of advice on the root and branch reform of entire education systems, as well as more targeted initiatives aimed at improving the quality of education provision and the more effective financing of education by both government and the donor community.
We have significant experience of education reform in difficult and conflict-affected environments and have also designed and supported major vocational education programmes in countries such as India and Bangladesh.
