Trade and investment policy
Service type: Trade policy
Region: South Asia
Country: NepalASI prepared a report setting out the legal, policy, institutional and operational constraints to increased foreign investment in Nepal. This involved a survey of existing and potential investors, analysis of Nepal's investment profile vis-à-vis other similar locations, a review of policy and legislation to highlight disincentives and areas of conflict and a critique of existing export and investment organisations. In particular the anti-export bias of the structure of protection was evaluated to expose its role as a disincentive to export-oriented FDI.
