Technical support to the Privatisation Agency

ASI provided technical assistance to the Ethiopian Privatisation Agency under the World Bank privatisation programme to support the divestiture of firms in the pharmaceutical, agro-industrial and public transport sectors.  The overall objective was to develop feasible divestiture mechanisms, identify and overcome potential issues and constraints, and manage the transactions.
 
ASI's work focused on technical audits and evaluation of the future viability of 15 state owned enterprises as part of the overall due diligence effort and development of a privatisation strategy for each.  This involved identification  of appropriate privatisation modalities and preparing practical programmes for the EPA to implement them.  The ASI team also identified and made initial contact with potential strategic investors in a number of the SOEs.
