Support to ESKOM Restructuring

ASI provided support to South Africa's Department for Public Enterprises, the shareholder of parastatal electricity supplier ESKOM. We recommended a new, competitive based market structure and have assessed and evaluated proposals made by ESKOM for its restructuring.

Prior to this ASI undertook a wide range of training and strengthening activities for the NER. This was a successful project which has helped transform the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) into a much more confident regulator which is now better able to oversee the operations and pricing of the 5th largest electricity utility in the world, ESKOM.
