Regional workshop on telecommunications policy and regulation

Adam Smith International, at the invitation of the Jordanian Telecommunications Regulatory Commission, ran a high-level workshop to provide Middle Eastern telecommunications policy-makers and regulators with clear guidance on managing the transition from state monopoly to privatized and competitive markets in telecommunications.

The workshop covered critical policy issues but also gave policy-makers and regulators a thorough understanding of the possibilities and challenges offered by new technology. This event also provided a forum for policy-makers from throughout the region to learn from each others' experience and examine the potential for regional cooperation in telecommunications regulation
