Country: AfghanistanASI is implementing a major programme of technical assistance with the Ministry of Justice. The purpose of project is to provide technical assistance to the three primary justice institutions, the Supreme Court, the Attorney General's Office and the Ministry of Justice, to support their efforts to implement organisational reforms, strengthen the efficacy and accountability of their personnel management procedures, and take the actions needed to link individual jobs descriptions to the salary grades determined by the Government of Afghanistan.
Results to date are as follows. We:
- Designed and agreed a policy framework for a new legal aid system
- Played a central role in drafting a national justice programme
- Helped the Supreme Court make significant progress in PRR
- Established a new organisational model for rural and urban prosecutorial offices
