Economic reform public awareness

As part of ASI's long-term support to the Government of Andhra Pradesh's economic restructuring programme, we assisted the GoAP in explaining the benefits that private ownership/management of sugar mills can have to thousands of workers in largely redundant, government-run mills, and to farmers supplying cane to the mills.  We assisted the GoAP in building firm support for mill disinvestment, which upgraded infrastructure while minimising retrenchment.   ASI made documentaries and promotional materials educating retrenched workers on retraining and available support programmes.
