Constitutional reform

In 2007, ASI was contracted by the UK FCO to hold a number of workshops with NGOs from across Iraq to develop ideas and identify ways for civil society groups, particularly women's groups to lobby Parliament and the relevant executive agencies to amend article 51 of the Iraq constitution (ratified by referendum in 2005), which allowed civil status to be defined according to religious norms.
