Adam Smith International conducted an extensive capital and financial markets regulation project in Guyana.  The project assessed a number of issues relating to the regulatory archiecture of Guyana's financial sector with a view to encouraging the efficient and productive allocation of capital within a more stable and predictable environment for depositors and investors.  
 
ASI established a stock exchange. ASI also put in place a regulatory framework for capital markets.  This included developing the two regulatory bodies from scratch: a self-regulatory organisation (the Guyana Association of Securities Dealers) and a securities council to register market participants.
