Capacity building on trade policy issues
ASI designed and presented a series of seminars to non-trade specialists working for DFID offices worldwide to introduce them to key trade issues and give them the skills to build trade issues into their projects. The programmes contained four key components:
- An outline of the benefits and importance of trade, including targetted case studies;
- An introduction to the Multilateral Trade System, the WTO Rounds and proposed reforms, including regional trade and accession issues; and
- Analysis of trade interdependencies and linkages, including social, environmental, standards and labour issues.
