ASI supports telecoms reform in South Africa
ASI has been retained by the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) to support telecoms reform in the areas of Carrier Pre-Selection (CPS) and Electronic-Numbering (ENUM). CPS will involve extensive consultation with industry stakeholders in South Africa to inform the process of revising and updating CPS regulations to further support the removal of barriers to entry and thus promote greater liberalisation of the telecoms market in South Africa.
Furthermore, ASI is supporting the Communications Regulators’ Association of Southern Africa (CRASA) to disseminate and promote ENUM in order to effectively facilitate Convergence processes. The CRASA forum provides the platform for greater harmonisation and the advancement of new telecoms methodologies and systems throughout the Southern Africa region; consultations are planned to be held in South Africa and Mozambique.
