ASI awarded large budget project in Afghanistan

ASI has now commenced its new Afghan budget project, having deployed Team Leader Mike Francino and Project Coordinator Brendan Gaudry for the inception phase of DFID's continuing support to the Afghan national budget process. This three year multi-million pound project will provide a core team of experts advising the Ministry of Finance's Budget Department, Fiscal Policy Unit, Treasury Department and Aid Coordination Unit.

It will also provide a pool of technical assistance to the Ministry of Finance, provinces and line ministries in support of improved budgeting and the rolling out of programme budgeting across Afghanistan. There is large technical assistance pool. The project also includes a significant amount of funds to provide public financial management training to Afghan government officials.
